About the Author

Tory Hibbitt

Tory is a Calgary-based lawyer specialized in health and privacy law, with a multi-jurisdictional practice that involves representing health authorities, hospitals, healthcare professionals and other health industry clients. Her advocacy work spans medical negligence claims, professional regulatory matters, and a range of commercial disputes. When she is not representing clients in disputes, she is advising her clients on how to avoid them — through regulatory compliance, risk management, and security breach response.

Tory is a Certified Information Privacy Professional and holds a Master of Laws in Medical Law and Ethics (with distinction). With her background in philosophy and enthusiasm for bioethics, she is particularly interested in emerging issues at the intersection of privacy, technology, and health care. Tory strives to advance the field of health privacy by making complex legal topics accessible across industry stakeholders. Outside of her legal practice, Tory enjoys sharing legal knowledge and discussing legal topics through writing, speaking, teaching and mentoring.
